OCTOBER NEWSLETTER
COMMANDERS MESSAGE --- LARRY SULLIVAN
Hello, all welcome to October and happy Halloween to all. We are in the first days of Fall. Leaves are changing and cooler nights. We had an awesome bus trip to the Tigers game, it would have been nice for a W though. Thanks to all that participated and especially to the Bishop’s for the work they provided. The calendar is still open for activities so please submit any request to the House Committee. A reminder we are capped to a $200.00 limit to pay for entertainment at the post. As we move forward, continue supporting the activities we have at the Post. Volunteers are our most precious commodity. The Hall and Kitchen areas are off limits to members and guests when events are not scheduled. I encourage you to lend the Post assistance when needed. Fun fact – October 4 is National Taco and Cinnamon Roll Day, and October is also National Popcorn month. Have a great month and look forward to seeing every one. To make your voice heard attend our monthly meetings to help make the Post a better place. Thank You

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Football season is just about upon us. With that in mind, the Post would like to again resume our "Weekly Raffles" and would like to form a committee to sell tickets on the dates the Lions are playing and also the day of the U of M vs. MSU game. Ideally we would like to have about 10 volunteers join the committee and that way each individual (or couples) would only need to sell tickets twice during the season. All of the profits would go toward future Post improvements. Last year projects included the Women's Bathroom remodeling and the Hall painting. If you are interested in being on the Raffle Committee please contact Steve Allen at 231-855-4959.
HALL AVAILABLE FOR RENT
Our 2520 SF hall with a capacity of 210 is available to rent for all occasions. The 418 SF Kitchen and LED Sign may also be negotiated for your event. Contact the Post at 231-744-1018 for avail able dates and more information. For scheduling and rental information please contact Dawn Bishop at 231-557-1628.
DETROIT TIGERS BUS TRIP: We extend our sincere thanks to all who participated in the "Tigers Bus Trip" on Saturday, September 20th. Through your support, the event raised $2,374.50. Special thanks to Jason & Dawn Bishop for chairing the event and Joe & Vickie Kemp, Clay & Sue Orrison, Dona Jarvi and Jeanne Siegel for their thoughtful donation of "Pudding Cups". Most importantly, your support strengthens our ability to provide continued assistance to our VFW Veterans and their families. We look forward to planning future trips and events next year. "THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT".
PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL
Members and guests are reminded that acts of Sexual Harassment, Racial or Sexual Discrimination, and all other conduct prejudicial to good order and discipline or conduct to be determined to be unbecoming of a member or guest will not be condoned. LAST CALL
When Bartenders give "Last Call", it's "Last Call" for EVERYTHING, including drinks, Pull Tabs and Keno. Plan accordingly as you will be expected to cash out before the Bartender locks up. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS.
PLEASE HELP US REMAIN COMPLIANT
Guests are welcome at the Post, but please remember that ONLY MEMBERS OF THE POST CAN PURCHASE ALCOHOL. IF YOU ARE NOT A CARD CARRYING MEMBER OF POST 8846, YOU ARE CONSIDERED A GUEST. All guests are required to sign the "Guest Book" upon entering the Canteen. This rule is in compliance with our Liquor License and all Bartenders have been instructed on strict enforcement and will help us maintain compliance with State Regulations.
WELCOME VETERANS BOARDS
