    JUNE NEWSLETTER 

COMMANDERS MESSAGE -David Jones-

Here we are now in the month of June. We have added several new members the last few months, which is very good and hopefully this will continue. Thanks to all of our efforts to recruit new members and maintain our current members we have achieved 100% Membership for the second year in a row. As you can see we have several activities planned for the up coming months.  If you can volunteer for any of activities please let the Post know.  Again a Big Thanks to our current volunteers.  

Reminder for everyone that on the 6th and 27th of June from 2 pm to 4 pm there will be VSW Service Officers at the Post for anyone who is need assistance.

Also we will be having a Planning Session before the House Committee Meeting on  June 19th at 5:30pm.  Anyone that has ideas for activities or dinners please be at the meeting.  This would be for the months July thru December.

The post is also in need of more members who would be interested in being part of the Post Honor Guard.  Please contact either myself or Rod Siegel for more information or interested in joining.

The Post is still in need individuals who would be interested in doing Pull Tabs on Monday or Thursday mornings as fill in as needed.  If interested please contact either Rod Siegel or myself.
 
 
 
AUXILIARY PRESIDENTS MESSAGE - Debbie (Dee Jay) Tompkins

   Hope everyone is well and enjoying the warm weather. At our last Auxiliary meeting we had the election of Auxiliary Officers for 2024-2025 program year. New Officers are: Auxiliary President Debbie (DeeJay) Tompkins, Senior Vice Lynn Samuels, Junior Vice Marty Davis, Treasurer / Secretary Barb Wabindato, Chaplain Carol Tompkins, Conductor Marietta LaLonde, Guard Debbie Eslick, 1 Year Trustee Lois Klinger, 2 Year Trustee Pam Cmejrek and 3 Year Trustee Bev Dykema.

VETERANS RUN: The Post will open at 1:00 on June 1st to welcome the riders on the 1st Annual Veterans Run. The Post will also sponsor a Steak and Perch Dinner from 4:30 - 7:00 PM followed by music in the Canteen.

BLOOD DRIVE: Monday, June 3rd, from Noon to 5:45 PM. For an appointment visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter sponsor code DONREAVFW, or call 1-800-733-2767.
 
BURGER NIGHT: Tuesday, June 11th, from 4:30 - 7:00 PM.

AUXILIARY MEETING: Wednesday, June 12th, beginning at 7:00 PM. 
 
PLANNING SESSION: Wednesday, June 19th, beginning at 5:30 PM.
 
HOUSE COMMITTEE MEETING: Wednesday, June 19th, at 6:30 PM.
 
POST MEETING: 
The Post will have its Monthly meeting on Wednesday, June 19th, beginning at 7:30 PM.
 
WELCOME MICHELLE FREELAND: Michelle has assumed the duties of Canteen Manager. She brings with her prior experience in Bar and Food Management, Banking, Accounting and Certifications. Michelle is a graduate of Muskegon High School and she and her family reside in the Glenside community. Please offer a pleasant and hearty welcome to Michelle.
 
LAST CALL 
When Bartenders give "Last Call", it's "Last Call" for EVERYTHING, including drinks and gaming machines. Those playing gaming machines will need to plan accordingly as they will be expected to cash out before the Bartender locks up. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS.
 
PLEASE HELP US REMAIN COMPLIANT 
Guests are welcome at the Post, but please remember that ONLY MEMBERS OF THE POST CAN PURCHASE ALCOHOL. All guests are required to sign the "Guest Book" upon entering the Canteen. This rule is in compliance with our Liquor License and all Bartenders have been instructed on strict enforcement and will help us maintain compliance with State Regulations.

WELCOME VETERANS BOARDS   
These colorful displays feature your branch of service that would highlight your front porch. They are on display in the Canteen with a sign-up sheet available for your order for only $30.00. For further information please contact Laura Karafa at 231-329-2998.
 
NEWSLETTER DEADLINE
If you are looking to have a function or event published in the "Website Newsletter" an "Event Sheet" with "PRIOR POST APPROVAL" must be submitted at least 5 days prior to the first of each month. Submit them to the Bartender on duty and they will drop them in the appropriate box in the Office.
Please put a note in your personal calendar so you don't miss the deadline. Text or Messenger messages ARE NOT acceptable.
